On 16th July 2024, Chargé D’Affaires at Zambia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Mrs Mwila M. Daka delivered Zambia’s General Debate Statement at the 2024 ECOSOC High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, taking place at UN Headquarters in New York.
In the statement, Mrs Daka underscored the need to reform the International Financial Architecture to allow for access to affordable financing and the need to prioritize investments to improve the adaptive capacities and resilience of developing countries. She called for strong local and global partnerships, including on leveraging private sector resources.
Mrs Daka further highlighted Zambia’s desire for the Summit of the Future to be a forum to support the development effective delivery of the 2030 Agenda and serve as a foundation for a shared future where no one is left behind.
The HLPF, which runs from 8th to 18th July, is being held under the theme, “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions”.
