ZAMBIA HOLDS BILATERAL MEETING WITH INTERNATIONAL DIABETES FEDERATION
New York, 27.09.25 – Honourable Elijah Muchima, Minister of Health held a bilateral meeting with Professor Peter Schwartz, President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The two sides discussed a strategic partnership to enhance diabetes care and prevention in Zambia. The IDF outlined key areas for collaboration, including advocacy, public awareness, and professional education.
A significant outcome was a proposal to establish Blue Circle Clinics in Zambia, supported by an IDF online training program and a national diabetes data repository.
Hon. Muchima welcomed the proposals, highlighting that pharmaceutical manufacturing is a high-priority area for the administration of Mr. Hakainde Hichilema Excellency, President of the Republic of Zambia.
